uTorrent DHT Troubleshooting.

There are some people having trouble getting uTorrent's DHT working. There are several things that need to be checked for you to get it working:
  1. UDP Traffic needs to be allowed in firewalls for DHT to function.
  2. PeerGuardian needs a smarter blocklist selected. Several of the blocklists generated by Bluetack block the DHT bootstrap nodes used by uTorrent.
  3. IF DHT has worked in the past, try torrents from OpenOffice or Depthstrike Entertainment's Open Source and Freeware tracker
  4. Shut down uTorrent, remove the dht.dat and dht.dat.old files from %appdata%\utorrent and restart uT, then retry.
Some configurations outright block DHT traffic due to the nature of the connection. There's nothing that can be done in these cases.

If you're going to post on the uTorrent forums for further help, post useful information, like a list of the internet security software you have installed, HOW it's not working, and what you've done to troubleshoot.

I don't handle troubleshooting of uT issues here.

I'm having the same issue. It started a few days ago and I cannot download anything. I've used utorrent for over 3 years and never had an issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Had the same DHT problem - now cured by deleting router firewall port and then reconfiguring the router and reassigning the same port back to it again - works great

I had this problem after utorrent working perfectly for a few weeks. Just subscribed to BTguard and used the settings in the preferences for the proxy and DHT wouldn't login. Removed the proxy and it immediately started up again.

I just went to my router and disabled the firewall, til I can get it fixed. What a bummer.

Here's the solution for people whom are not familiar with firewall settings/routers/LAN/DSL/PDU/Nodes and all that other computer geek stuff:

Just uninstall uTorrent. Download it again and reinstall it (takes less than 10 minutes) and presto. Problem solved.

My pleasure

Oh yes I forgot to mention that my DHT worked perfectly before. Not sure if this also works if you've been having this problem from the start

I resolved the issue by uninstalling uTorrent and then reinstalling with the selection "let uTorrent resolve Windows firewall issues.

I resolved the issue with the solution proposed, i mean by deleting both files and after that utorrent started and start working fine after few minutes.

Thanks

Hello, I had this issue aswell. I figured out it was my VPN that was causing the problem. If you have a VPN enabled. try using utorrent without it

OK, same behavior, not talking to any peers as well. I turned off the nordvpn proxy on utorrent then connected my system vpn and I am getting things happening.

I'm not sure if you guys agree with my actions, but here is what I did. I uninstalled my stupid anti-virus, disabled my internet firewall and restarted my PC. et voila, it works!

My guess is the recent updates to either my firewall or anti-virus that causing this issue. Double check your recent update history, if it got new security updates then (maybe) that's the problem. Hope this work for you guys, cheers.
